March...

Hello 👋😀      We've actually had some very nice sunny days this month, even some warmth too if you ignore the occasional chilly breeze. It does make a change from all the sodding (and sodden) grey days we've had over the last several months. And the flowers and blossoms have responded very well to it, so I thought I'd start this post with some pictures from the garden.      Is there anything that shouts Spring more loudly than a Daffodil? These are one of the small varieties, Tête à Tête I think.      Primroses probably top a few peoples list of spring flowers.      An Anemone. It's the only one that grows here for some reason.      The Violets are just starting to come out. For such a small flower they are incredibly pretty.        We've got an old washing-up bowl with some wonderful Forget-Me-Nots in - I love the Blue!!      The Forsythia has done ...

February...

Image
Hello👋😀      So many people seem to be saying that February has flown by really quickly, so I'm not going to bother. They are right though! It's a bit strange when you consider that although it is the shortest month, it's not actually that much shorter than the others. Perhaps it has something to do with which day of the week it started on? I don't know...      I thought I would catch you up on some of my newest squares for my Sample Squares Lap Blanket. If you have read my last post you will know that this is a slow on-going project, that I'm not in too much of a hurry to finish, but which I have made my focus for the time being.      I haven't knitted for ages (years) so all the new squares are crocheted and although I haven't totalled up yet, I would say that most of the squares in the blanket will be crochet ones.      I'll start with this one:      This was an interesting one to make a...

January....

Hello👋😀      It's the end of January 2026 already! I can't believe how quickly the month has flown by! It's been a weird couple of months since I last posted, and although I can't say that they have been chocked full of yarny🧶 goodness, I am still crocheting, but in a relaxed way, no specific projects or deadlines, just stitching because I want to. I do have one small plan on the go... but first, let me catch you up on what's been happening since we last spoke.      You may remember that I was working on an Autumnal Cushion Cover🍁🍂. Since completing the front panel I have made some leaves to decorate it with, using a pattern from Attic24 . But that is as far as I have got. I did start the back panel, having determined what I wanted to do for it, but the yarn I had chosen was not cooperating! I couldn't even get past the foundation chain before the seasonal roughness of my fingers was stripping the yarn of fibres. It was just so sof...

Matching Mittens

Hello👋😀      How is everyone feeling now that Blogtober is over and November is here? I've got to say, I have not been missing trying to post a blog everyday - it's exhausting!🫩      Something I mentioned in some of last month's posts was a project I was trying to get finished for a specific weekend and in the end didn't. Well, it has now been finished and the person it was meant for has received it and so now I can tell you about it!      I wanted to make my Sister something for her Birthday and I had the perfect thing in mind, and I had the yarn to do it with, and I started making in plenty of time to get it finished. But, we weren't going to be seeing her until a week or so after her Birthday, so I sort of put off working on it for a while. Too long a while as it turned out and I only managed to get half the present made in time, and there was no way I was going to rush it and give her something substandard.  ...
