April and May...
Helloππ
I have been trying to get this post done for weeks now but I just haven't been able to spend enough time on it in any one go to get anything done! And now, I'm posting as it is because here in the UK, we're having a heat wave which means no crochet for old sweaty-hands here! Anyway, here are the last few squares for the Sampler Blanket I've been working on.
This is Star Stitch, isn't it pretty!? It works well in one colour but as I'm trying to add a bit of variety I did it in several.
This is probably one of the most non-basic stitches I've done, I love the pattern of it.
The definition and texture is also quite appealing.
This is Tunisian Arrow Head Stitch. I have only ever seen it used in one colour or with a variegated yarn, but never in two colours like this. I think it looks quite good. And yes, it does need blocking!
Again, I love the texture and think that the two tone colourway highlights it rather nicely.
Tunisian Cross Stitch. Like the Arrowhead Stitch I haven't seen this done in two colours but if anything I think it actually enhances the appearance of the crosses. And don't you think it should perhaps be renamed "Noughts and Crosses" Stitch when worked like this?
Now, this one I did as a replacement for the Block Stitch Square I showed you previously. That one had been worked in the round and I decided that it stood out too much from all the other squares that had been worked in rows. This is a slight variation on regular Block Stitch in that instead of working three individual Trebles (UK Terms) you work a Treble Cluster.
And that's the last of the squares done! Now I'm putting an extra round of black on the smaller squares - mostly knitted ones - just to even-up the sizes of the squares before the blocking begins. I'm still not sure whether or not to play around with them and come up with a placement order before I block them, or to block them first and then play? All this thinking, no wonder I'm tired!
Bye for now,ππ΄
