April and May...

HelloπŸ‘‹πŸ˜     I have been trying to get this post done for weeks now but I just haven't been able to spend enough time on it in any one go to get anything done! And now, I'm posting as it is because here in the UK, we're having a heat wave which means no crochet for old sweaty-hands here! Anyway, here are the last few squares for the Sampler Blanket I've been working on.              This is Star Stitch, isn't it pretty!? It works well in one colour but as I'm trying to add a bit of variety I did it in several.     This is probably one of the most non-basic stitches I've done, I love the pattern of it.      The definition and texture is also quite appealing.        This is Tunisian Arrow Head Stitch. I have only ever seen it used in one colour or with a variegated yarn, but never in two colours like this. I think it looks quite good. And yes, it does need blocking!    ...

February...

HelloπŸ‘‹πŸ˜€      So many people seem to be saying that February has flown by really quickly, so I'm not going to bother. They are right though! It's a bit strange when you consider that although it is the shortest month, it's not actually that much shorter than the others. Perhaps it has something to do with which day of the week it started on? I don't know...      I thought I would catch you up on some of my newest squares for my Sample Squares Lap Blanket. If you have read my last post you will know that this is a slow on-going project, that I'm not in too much of a hurry to finish, but which I have made my focus for the time being.      I haven't knitted for ages (years) so all the new squares are crocheted and although I haven't totalled up yet, I would say that most of the squares in the blanket will be crochet ones.      I'll start with this one:      This was an interesting one to make a...

Blogtober 2025 : Post 8

Image
Hello!πŸ‘‹πŸ˜€      I admit yesterday's post was a bit naff but it does count so I'm not going to berate myself too much about it.      This is the last of the projects I completed in the first half of the year. It's small and simple, but it does have a function and it was appreciated by the recipient which, of course, made it a worthwhile make.      I really wanted to make my Mother something for her Birthday but had no idea what. But she did mention a few times that she was forever picking up the wrong glasses case because, for some daft reason, they're all the same colour. And slowly, an idea came to mind!πŸ€”πŸ€―πŸ˜ƒ      Now, the first thought was a simple sock-like case for the solid case to fit into, but it didn't seem like a good  idea. And then it came to me - a napkin ring! Ta-Dah!        I was already making the Pansy just to see what the pattern was like to follow, and what the Cr...

Blogtober 2025 : Post 3

Image
Hello!πŸ‘‹πŸ˜€      It's day three of Blogtober 2025 and I'm back! I'm as surprised as you are!      So here's the next project I worked on back in the early part of the year - a Sideways Tunisian Crochet Bobble Hat ! Yes, it is quite big. But at least it's warm!     I'd had this idea in my head for quite a while but didn't have the nerve to try it until January.     I first made a Sideways Bobble Hat when I was a knitter, from a well explained free pattern, worked in Garter Stitch , from WoolyWormhead . I only ever made two - a big one and a small one, but since becoming a Crocheter - and especially after learning Tunisian Crochet - I have often wondered if I could make a crocheted version, using the knitting pattern as a guide.     And as it turns out, I could!πŸ˜€ And it's not too shabby either!     The main yarn is King Cole Big Value Chunky in the colour Bluegrass . The contra...
