Blogtober 2025 : Post 3
Hello!👋😀
It's day three of Blogtober 2025 and I'm back! I'm as surprised as you are!
So here's the next project I worked on back in the early part of the year - a Sideways Tunisian Crochet Bobble Hat!

| Yes, it is quite big. But at least it's warm! |
I'd had this idea in my head for quite a while but didn't have the nerve to try it until January.
I first made a Sideways Bobble Hat when I was a knitter, from a well explained free pattern, worked in Garter Stitch, from WoolyWormhead. I only ever made two - a big one and a small one, but since becoming a Crocheter - and especially after learning Tunisian Crochet - I have often wondered if I could make a crocheted version, using the knitting pattern as a guide.
And as it turns out, I could!😀 And it's not too shabby either!
The main yarn is King Cole Big Value Chunky in the colour Bluegrass. The contrast and Bobble yarn I brought home from my Sister's a few years ago, and I have no idea what brand it is or what weight it's classed as, but I would say it is a Chunky weight with a fair bit of body to it.
The hook used was a 14" 8mm Aluminium Tunisian Hook, and the stitch is Tunisian Simple Stitch. For the edging I used an 8mm regular Aluminium hook to work a round of Crab Stitch/Reverse Double Crochet (UK terms) - which is another "new to me" Stitch!
Now, it's not perfect. It is a little big and the seam isn't as unnoticeable as I would have liked it, so I will have to play around with the stitch count to make a more fitting hat. Interestingly, it didn't take as many segments to make as the knitted one does. Do you think this is because of the yarn and hook size or the different method of making?🤔
I am pleased with it though and will be making more!😄
Bye for now!👋😀

Wow…thats a hat and a half! Tunisian crochet is on my list to try out-once Ive got all my christmas stuff done. Interesting that it didnt take as many segments…
ReplyDeleteYesterday’s scarf looked good too!
Good luck with keeping up with blogtober….I used to blog too but had the same reaction as you with it becoming a chore and getting rid of it in the end- I never understood why…and trying to keep up a daily journal has been the same….I’m sure there’s some recognised psychological reason for it!
Great start to the month 😜
