Blogtober 2025 : Post 21
Helloππ
Well yesterday was pretty much meh, but hopefully this post will make up for it.
Hooks! I can't imagine any crocheter not having a thing for hooks. Adding to the number they own whenever possible, even if it is "just to see what they're like"!
I couldn't tell you how many hooks I actually have - far less then some people! - but I know I have several of a few sizes, and only a couple of others. I also have Tunisian Hooks, some of which are handmade.
I have a few plastic ones, quite a lot of aluminium ones and a small selection of wooden ones. I don't like the plastic ones. I didn't like using plastic Knitting needles either, especially the thicker sizes! I found that some of them were hollow and were actually quite bendy, which with my tight tension, didn't make for a good working experience!
My current "go to-s" are ones I got from Aldi which are aluminium with silicon grips. I have found these very comfortable to hold and use and can understand why lots of other people love them. Plain aluminium hooks are a classic and I particularly like the ones from Pony that have a matt coating - I like the contact they have with the yarn. Shiny aluminium hooks can sometimes be a little slippery with some yarns.

As for adding to my collection, I have actually been very good this year and only added two! (So far!) The first was decided upon after completing my Father's Scarf. I had found the 12mm Bamboo Hook a little too short to be comfortable in my hand so went looking for a "gripped" replacement, and treated myself to a 12mm Knit Pro Waves 2.0 Hook!

I have only tried it for a small sample but immediately found it more comfortable to hold and use, probably because of the silicon shaft and the fact that it is longer than the Bamboo hook. A good purchase methinks!
The second addition is also from Knit Pro. A 6.5mm Ginger Interchangeable Tunisian Hook. It is sooo smooth to the touch and feels more sturdy than the Symphonie hooks I have. This was a Birthday present and I opted to have it with one of the new Swivel Cords. There are two projects I have in mind for this one but time will tell if I start either of them before the end of the year!

Have you added to your Hook Collection this year?
See you tomorrow,
