Starting Anew.

    Hello! Bet you never thought you'd be seeing me again😀

If any of you had been paying attention, last year my previous blog -  "A Mug For Hooks" - disappeared from the web. I deleted it. My choice. To be honest I wasn't happy with it, I wasn't happy doing it, and in the end I just couldn't muster the enthusiasm needed for such a venture. It was actually making me pretty miserable just thinking about it, and it always seemed to take me so long to put a post together! It got frustrating and demoralising. I've always liked writing! It should have been an easy thing for me to do. I found it wasn't. Making the decision to end the blog and delete it was actually quite easy and a huge relief. But of course there was always the possibility of trying again.

    And now seems to be as good a time as any to start. I'm going to do things a bit differently this time, more simply. And try and get into the habit of taking more photos!😁

    I've also changed the name of the blog. "A Mug For Hooks" was always meant to be a clever pun. Me being a complete 'mug' for any hook + Keeping hooks in a mug (of which I have several!) = clever blog title. But I never really explained that did I. Numpty.🙄

    "A Mugful Of Crochet" seems much better, less pretentious perhaps, and also more indicative of what the blog is actually about.

    Fingers crossed, I will get on better with this then I did with the last one, and we'll all enjoy it a lot more!🤞🤞

     Hello, hello!👋😀      Well yes, it has been a while, but I am going to try this blogging lark again! I don't know what happened earlier in the year. I think I just realised that blogging was a time consuming activity that I really didn't have time for. Has anything changed now? No, but I'm going to try and be more relaxed about it all and not be so wordy. I do tend to go on a bit!🙄      So when better to start than Blogtober ?😲 Yes, I am a little nuts but, hey-ho someone's got to be!      I've got a few things to show you from earlier in the year and a few things on the hook to share and even possibly complete before the end of the month.     Hello!👋😀      It's day three of Blogtober 2025 and I'm back! I'm as surprised as you are!      So here's the next project I worked on back in the early part of the year - a Sideways Tunisian Crochet Bobble Hat ! Yes, it is quite big. But at least it's warm!     I'd had this idea in my head for quite a while but didn't have the nerve to try it until January.     I first made a Sideways Bobble Hat when I was a knitter, from a well explained free pattern, worked in Garter Stitch , from WoolyWormhead . I only ever made two - a big one and a small one, but since becoming a Crocheter - and especially after learning Tunisian Crochet - I have often wondered if I could make a crocheted version, using the knitting pattern as a guide.     And as it turns out, I could!😀 And it's not too shabby either!     The main yarn is King Cole Big Value Chunky in the colour Bluegrass . Blogtober 2025 : Post 2

     Hello!👋😀      The early part of the year turned out to be quite productive really, by my usual standards anyway!      The first thing I made was Super Chunky Scarf for my Father. I wasn't sure if he was going to wear it because to be honest, I thought I'd made it too big. And I'm not going to say it's my best work because it isn't, but as I'm not used to working with this weight of yarn I think I've done as well as I could have.     I started it on the 3rd of January and finished it on the 18th of January, working on it in the evening for no more than 2 hours, and mostly just one, so it's possibly one of my quickest makes ever!     I've used a 12mm Bamboo hook and a "new to me" stitch - the Camel Stitch .
